Mount Arlington Borough (07856) is located in Morris County, NJ. The community has a total area of 2.8 square miles and has approximately 2,050 housing units. The community borders Lake Hopatcong, which is New Jersey's largest man-made lake. Mount Arlington was once a thriving resort town in the era before the world wars and every summer thousands of people would travel to the community and vacation in the hotels along the lake. The Bertrand Island Amusement Park, which existed from the 1920s to 1983, featured a world famous carousel and roller coaster and is now the site of Lakeshore Village, a luxury townhome community. Homes in Mount Arlington range from summer cottages, to small capes and ranches, to Victorian lakefront mansions. The town's nickname is "The Jewel of Lake Hopatcong."

Commute

Mount Arlington has easy access to Interstate 80 for an eastbound commute. The community has a train station on the NJ Transit Morristown Line which provides direct service to Hoboken Terminal. Passengers can transfer to another train in Dover for Midtown Direct service to NY Penn Station. At Hoboken Terminal, passengers can switch to the PATH to reach NYC. The NJ Transit Montclair-Boonton Line also passes through the station. In addition, the parking lot at the station serves as a park-and-ride for Lakeland Bus Lines service to NY Port Authority Terminal in Midtown as well as other locations in NYC. During rush hour, the bus ride takes about 65 minutes. The stop is known as the Howard Blvd Park n Ride.

Schools

The Mount Arlington School District serves public school students in kindergarten through eighth grade. Edith M. Decker School serves students in grade K-2. The Mount Arlington Elementary school serves students in grades 3-8. For grades 9-12, public school students attend Roxbury High School in Roxbury.

Shopping

There is an amazing about of nearby shopping for residents. The Rockaway Townsquare Mall is about 10 minutes away in Rockaway Township and is one of the largest and most modern malls in New Jersey. The Ledgewood Mall and Roxbury Mall are about 10 minutes away in Roxbury Township. The ITC Crossing is about 10 minutes away in Mount Olive and features large national chain stores and popular restaurants.
